Master Illusionist Lyn Dillies Predicts Painterly Passion of Elephants

Master illusionist, Lyn Dillies, will predict the subject of a painting to be created by two Asian elephants at Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, MA.

(PRWEB) June 5, 2004 -- Lyn Dillies, Americas leading female illusionist, returns to Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Friday, June 18, 2004, at 6 pm in an unprecedented performance. Headlining the parks two-day ZOObilation celebration, Ms. Dillies will predict the subject of a painting to be created by Buttonwood Park Zoos two resident elephants, Ruth and Emily, who are experienced painters. A week before the event Lyn will make her prediction and place it inside a locked, sealed box to be displayed prominently in the main entrance to the zoo. On the evening of the event, the pachyderm Picassos will paint their masterpiece on a large canvas. The box, which will be held under tight security and in full view of the audience, will be unlocked to reveal Lyns prediction that will identically match Ruth and Emilys painting.

It was with Ruth and Emily that Lyn garnered national acclaim and created magic history in August, 2000, as she produced-from thin air--both elephants in succession before a live audience. That unique illusion was chronicled in the national archives of the Society of American Magicians.

Lyn Dillies has mesmerized audiences of all ages throughout the United States and Canada for over two decades. Hailed as the finest female magician in the U.S., Lyns engaging personality, along with hypnotic lighting effects and dynamic music, wraps the audience in a blanket of spectacular, eye-defying illusions that keep them saying, "How did she do that?"

Chronicled frequently by television appearances, Lyn has shared the stage with such notable entertainers as Marvin Hamlisch, Crystal Gayle, and Mikhail Baryshnikov. She has performed with a live symphony orchestra at Lincoln Center combining the majesty of classical music with her breathtaking illusions. An original concept that took years of planning, Lyn performs her "Magic At The Symphony" program with symphonies around the country to encourage children to discover the magic of classical music while experiencing the harmony of her illusions.

One of Lyns proudest moments was when she became the first illusionist in magic history to make two live Asian elephants appear in succession. The event was held outdoors before a live audience for the grand opening of the Buttonwood Park Zoo in her hometown of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

It took eight months to prepare for this incredible spectacle and required more than 5,000 square feet of fabric, 300 feet of truss, two cases of red seedless grapes (the pachyderms' favorite treat) and a little sleight of trunk! The Society of American Magicians deemed this illusion such an unprecedented event that documentation is included in the organizations national archives.

Lyn continues to amaze audiences with incredible illusions such as "Metamorphosis," "The Window," "Human Diffusion" and "The Twister." But illusion is only half of The Magic Of Lyn. The lady herself is the other half. From the moment she first appears on stage, Lyn places the audience on the edge of their seats and in the palm of her hand. This slender blonde banters and dazzles her way into the hearts of all who witness her Houdiniesque feats.

ZOObilation is Buttonwood Park Zoos annual family festival featuring entertainment and activities for all ages. It will be held Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. The zoo is located at 425 Hawthorn Street in New Bedford, MA, and is wheelchair accessible.
