Open Aire Festival: The Mundaze, Island ( Scott West Band ) from Sacramento, & The Velvet Jones Rock Summer Open Air Festival Concerts Concert promoter Scott West announced the line-up for this year's June Open Aire Festival Concert in California with the Bay Area's hottest dance group (The Mundaze) joining The Velvet Jones and Island for a power-packed event on June 3rd, 2004. West also noted that other festivals & concert events are slated for the first Thursday of each month in July, August and September of 2004. ELK GROVE, CA (PRWEB) June 3, 2004 -- California bands Island, The Velvet Jones and The Mundaze will be performing at the June 2004 Open Aire Festival in Elk Grove, California on Thursday June 3rd from 5PM to 9 PM. The Open Aire events are scheduled for June 3rd, July 8th, August 5th and September 2nd.
West says that he is very excited about this month's line up. "We have the Mundaze coming from San Jose and they are my favorite bay-area band and one of the hottest bands in California. They have incredible vocals, infectious songs and riveting back beats that remind me of the Doobie Brothers with today's edgier feel. I can't think of a better band to dance or listen.
The Mundaze are packing the hottest clubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles and I was pleased to have such an stunning group play on our bill for this year's opening concert. When the Mundaze play, everyone gets on the dance floor! Everyone! I play their single 'Chewing Gum' over and over again in my car, but their set has at least ten other songs that are just as hot. I think that Shannon Bradley is one of those songwriters whose talent goes beyond even the best and as a live act they grab you on a very visceral and physical level. The rest of the band is as solid as they come with glistening harmonies, syncopated guitar rifts that move your entire body and a funky bass-boy that is locked with one of California's best drummers. This band is dangerous!"
"We also have The Velvet Jones playing a set and they have one of my favorite songwriters (Niko Applewhite) fronting their band with solid players backing him. Matt Pinder plays a rugged bass for the Velvet Jones and covers their backing vocal duties. This band has great energy and is a regular favorite at Sacramento's Songwriter Showcases.
West added that, "We have producer/engineer Guy Kowarsh doing sound for this year's Open Aire Festival and Guy is one of the best in the business. Guy has produced and engineered many noteworthy Grammy Award Winning artists, as well as storied jazz musicians such as Lionel Hampton, Jim Martinez and many others. Guy dropped a record for MCA records with his current band Zoppi two years ago and is one of the most talented sound engineers that I know."
Island will open the first set with Matt Pinder(The Velvet Jones) and TJ (The Mundaze) sitting in on bass and vocals respectively. Velvet Jones will play the second set and The Mundaze will be June's headliner. Sacramento television station KMAX (channel 31) will be covering the event and doing a live broadcast from 7 to 8 PM. For the next four months, Old Town Elk Grove will be the place to be on the first Thursday of each month.
Old Town Elk Grove is due east of Highway 99 in Elk Grove, California and the Open Aire Festival Music is just past the railroad tracks on Elk Grove Boulevard from 5 PM to 9 PM.
