Ascender Corp introduces its first typeface family, Endurance This newly designed set of fonts is targeted at corporate branding and developers of software & hardware products. Endurance features an extended language character set and typographic extras. Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) June 9, 2004--Ascender Corporation, specialists in multilingual and custom font development, today announced their first typefaces targeted for viewing on-screen as well as in print. Endurance is a comprehensive typeface family with a variety of weights from light to black with true italics. It was designed to fill the need for an industrial strength sans serif typeface that includes Greek, Cyrillic and Eastern European characters.
Endurance is useful for corporate branding, print publishing and embedded systems. Its fresh design enhances the creative palette for designers, while its extensive character set meets the needs of multinational companies who create communications throughout the US and Europe. It was designed with on-screen legibility as a key attribute for hardware and software developers.
The typeface family is available now for evaluation and licensing to corporate identity design firms, and to software and hardware developers. A preview of the font can be found at: http://www.ascendercorp.com/Endurance.html
Endurance's design follows the Swiss model of Grotesque sans serifs yet it adds a layer of warmth not often found in this genre. Capital letters tend to be less constricted in proportion than other popular Grotesques (Arial and Helvetica for instance) and its careful detailing gives a more refined appearance in large sizes. Terminals are shorter and counters are more open giving a brighter appearance in text in both print and on screen. The italics are designed and not algorithmically slanted. Endurance's character set will appeal to creative professionals and publishers with its extended collection of superiors, inferiors, fractions, small capitals, non-lining figures and an extended ligature set.
Endurance was designed by Steve Matteson, a partner in Ascender Corporation. The name Endurance lends itself to the fact that the typeface was designed to work well under extreme conditions from billboards to mobile phone screens. The proliferation of grotesque sans serifs motivated Steve to find a way to develop one with a warmer tone while retaining the no-nonsense feel of this type style.
