Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 11, 2004 -- What happened to those days when a physician would travel to his patients homes or places of business to give them personalized care? Unfortunately it seems like that kind of individual attention is a thing of the past-a relic of a bygone era. Or is it? Proving that specialized care is alive and well, computer expert Marcus Johnson has embarked on a new business venture that brings computer help and support directly to the doorsteps of peoples homes and businesses. As the owner of a new franchise with Geeks On Call®-the nations premier provider of on-site computer services-Johnson will ensure that everyone in the northwest suburbs of Atlanta has access to a full range of computer troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, wired/wireless networking, one-one-one training programs, and custom-built PCs.

Atlanta native Marcus Johnsons love of computers stretches all the way back to the fifth grade. It was then that he first became enthralled with the endless possibilities of computer programming, which prompted him to engage in complex activities such as managing an online bulletin board (at a time when the internet and online communities were quite primitive). Because of his advanced understanding of computers, it made perfect sense for him to pursue additional high-tech knowledge during his college years. In 1994 he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a joint degree consisting of a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and a B.A. in Business Administration.

Post college, Johnson became employed as a paid intern with MCI, who trained him in various cutting-edge technologies. After his training was complete, he was given the task of passing on that knowledge to the staff of MCIs call centers. When his internship came to an end, MCI hired him full time as an Information-Technology (IT) Specialist for their network-support department. Over the next eight years with MCI, Johnson was promoted into several management positions and was instrumental in developing an internet-based method of training new customer service representatives. After departing MCI, he moved back to Atlanta and joined a small company that provided internet-based medical-benefit administration. During a three-year period he performed a bevy of duties, including database development, web application development, data migration support, and network administration. When Johnson began looking for the next chapter in his career, he was excited to discover that Geeks On Call® had franchise opportunities available in the Atlanta metro area.

Geeks On Call® is the high-tech equivalent of a doctor who makes house calls. Too often small businesses and residential customers lose substantial time and money while waiting for their computer problems to be fixed by a large, impersonal retail store-which often keeps the computer for a week or more and charges an arm and a leg! Refusing to tolerate this type of slow, unsatisfactory service, Geeks On Call® goes against the grain and brings help directly to the customers doorstep. Everything the Geeks technicians need to complete their tasks is nestled inside their sleek patriot-blue Chrysler PT Cruisers-affectionately known as Geek Cruisers"-which are emblazoned with the Geeks On Call® logo and toll-free phone number.

Launched in 1999, Geeks On Call® began its operations in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA-where it experienced immediate success. Overwhelmed by the publics hunger for dependable computer support, Geeks On Call® realized the only way to satisfy its ballooning customer base would be to franchise the company. In early 2001 the first Geeks offspring was born, and since then nearly 170 franchises have been planted throughout the United States.

Not only have the expedient, reliable services provided by Geeks On Call® found success with residential clients but also with small businesses that simply cannot afford the enormous expense of hiring an IT staff. Instead of paying exorbitant salaries to keep a full-fledged IT staff on hand, small businesses simply can turn to Geeks On Call® on those occasions in which computer services are required. Now everyone can have access to superior computer repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, personalized training, networking and custom-built PCs-without emptying their wallets.

Currently, Geeks On Call® offers service in the following states: Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
