According to Lance, I am really honored, and a little humbled, to be sponsored for this event. It is my first contest and I am nervous but optimistic. I have received really great training and encouragement by the guys at the George Kenny School of Chainsaw Carving."
Before taking the Chainsaw Carving classes in March, Lance had never picked up a chainsaw before. But he had always been an artist and even a professional musician. He wanted to learn how to Chainsaw Carve and was happy to learn that one of the two carving instructors in the nation was right here in Washington State.
Lance, who is a new father, gave up his other employment once learning how to Chainsaw Carve. He felt his natural artistic talents werent being fully utilized. Now he says, I feel like I am living out my dream. I get up in the morning looking forward to going out and carving a sculpture for someone. It is amazing to me that I was able to quit my job to do this. I have been selling my stuff really well but I feel I will learn so much from the other carvers at the contest in Oregon".
