(PRWEB) June 15, 2004 -- Movie Seeks Funding

Rooster Mitchell of Deck-a-Dance Films seeks funding for "Back to the Benjamins".

In the vein of such independent gems as "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "Swingers" comes the tale of a struggling screenwriter in "Back to the Benjamins".

With nine unsold scripts and "nothing left to write about", Larry Benjamin can only boast one writing gig to his credit: a cable access show. With that, the comedic yarn unfolds of an underachieving screenwriter forced to quit Hollywood due to a bad case of failure.

After getting canned from his last three measly jobs - sandwich shop, Persian rug store, and "bi-curious" phone sex hotline - Larry finds himself flat broke, evicted, then unceremoniously dumped by his agent. That cinches it for Larry. His career in Hollywood is over before it begins.

Tail between his legs, he returns home to Cincinnati, moving back in with Marv and Bea, his extraordinarily neurotic parents. Marv, who owns a toy store (that Larry will be a part of, like it or not) is the king of hypochondria and Bea, who collects newspaper obituaries, will do all they can to drive their son absolutely crazy - including, at one point, grounding him.

Larry is thirty.

He embarks on a sometimes ludicrous, sometimes whimsical journey of midwest life and colorful characters, including, among others, Donna Carlyle, the high school ugly-duckling-turned-sweet-lovely-swan, who becomes Larry's breathtaking love interest.

Larry begins to notice he's surrounded by characters he couldn't possibly have invented. Through an absurd, yet touching odyssey, Larry is able to rediscover his passion for writing and long lost inspiration to succeed in the last place he ever thought to look. His own funny life.

The story comes full circle to a charming, conclusion that "family is everything" - and dreams, the ones closest to your heart, can always come true. You just have to know where to look.
