Screeners Central Makes Online News Search Satire articles put airport security screener web site in the 'news' (PRWEB) June 15, 2004 -- Screeners Central, the self-proclaimed humorous (and at times irreverent) resource site for America's TSA Screeners, has made the search page on Google's News feature.
Two satire articles that were originally published on the Screeners Central web site were submitted to The Spoof!, a satire web site. By the next day, both articles showed up on Google News search results.
"I was certainly surprised," said Screeners Central creator Mark Arsenault. "I wanted to spread the word about my website but I thought that the article submissions to the other site would be the extent of their exposure. I certainly didn't expect them to show up in a Google News search."
The Sacramento-based entrepreneur regularly searches online news for stories relating to the Transportation Security Administration, screeners, airports and airline security in general.
With more than 1,000 visits to the web site each day, the web site provides timely news, tips and often irreverent humor - with original cartoons and parody images - for TSA's 45,000 federal security screeners. And the number of visitors continues to grow.
"I'd love it if all 45,000 screeners visited the site on a regular basis," Arsenault said. "Like it or love it, I'd love to hear from more screeners what they think about the web site."
Not all of the material on the Screeners Central web site is comical, however, warns Arsenault. Most of the material and links related to legitimate news stories, government reports, editorial columns, and the like.
"The satire and parody rounds out the site," Arsenault said. "People come for a variety of reasons. The humor aspect is just one of them."
