Xenon Foundation Offering Four Scholarships to Those Interested in Becoming Nail Technicians

The Xenon Foundation is offering a new scholarship campaign for those wanting to become nail technicians. Four $800 scholarships will be awarded in October to the winners of a contest that asks applicants to prove their passion and dedication on video.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2004 -- After successfully awarding more than $15,000 in scholarships to three recipients entering the specialties of cosmetology and esthetics, The Xenon Foundation is offering a new scholarship campaign for those wanting to become nail technicians. Four $800 scholarships will be awarded in October to the winners of a contest that asks applicants to prove their passion and dedication on video.

Thanks to the generous donation from OPI, we are able to offer four nail scholarships instead of just one," explained Frank Cacciato, president of the Xenon Foundation. And with the ongoing support from our industry, we can continue to offer opportunities like these to those who want to become a part of it."

To enter, applicants must download the application form from www.xenonfoundation.org and submit it along with a $25 application fee and a five- to 10-minute video presentation explaining their passion, why they want a career in nails and why they should be selected. Creativity is encouraged and expected as the video must be made without any assistance from professional sources. The deadline for video submissions is Sept. 15.

Finalists will be chosen by Xenon Foundation board members, and a panel of industry experts will choose the winners, who will be notified by certified mail and telephone on or about Oct. 15. As with previous Xenon scholarship recipients, the winners will be introduced to the media soon after, thus beginning a journey that will be chronicled and watched from start to finish.

After selecting and entering the accredited school of their choice, the winners will be required to maintain a 90 percent GPA throughout the program and must complete all school and state requirements to obtain their licenses within two years of being awarded monies. Attendance must be regular and completed within the allotted time and required hours.

Formed in 2001 in compliance with the final wish of its originator, Peter M. Franelli (aka Xenon), The Xenon Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers scholarships to individuals wishing to attend beauty school and obtain their cosmetology license or to licensed professionals with the desire to advance their careers by easing the financial burden of attending beauty school. The Xenon Foundation also awards scholarships to licensed professionals with the desire to pursue other areas within the industry such as nail and skincare, thus promoting continuing education.
