Sheba Media aims to make life easier for published authors while enhancing the quality of screenplays circulating in Hollywood. What seems all to difficult, should be simple; providing producers, actors and filmmakers with great scripts. We have partnered with several Hollywood producers, Independent Film Producers, screenwriters, and actors, to get more books with proven popularity to film. (PRWEB) July 1, 2004 -- Others in the industry acknowledge the need for good scripts and published authors already have them. If a book is already published, chances are it has established a readership and fan base through loyal readers, bookclubs and book reviewers. If so, then at the end of the day, that is the screenplay adaptation producers, directors, actors and others in the industry seek; a good story.
What is the Book to Film Screenplay Search Contest, & Who is Eligible?
The book to film screenplay search contest is an innovative way to bring greenlighters together with authors who have already told their stories; been published or have self-published and built a fan base of loyal readers that think their works will make a great film. The contest will culminate with the Book to Film Festival in Mar of 05, giving book clubs, book reviewers, producers, actors and other panelist ample time to make a decision.
Why are actors on the panel?
Because if it weren't for writers, they would not have a part to vie for, and if it weren't for great actors and their input, what is the point of a great script?
How does the process work?
Eligible works are books that have been published for at least six months by first time or self-published authors. Established writers with major publishing houses may submit new releases. Authors do not need an agent to submit works on their behalf. However, authors with literary agents are more than welcomed to work with us.
Partnering Producers We are currently working with Hollywood producers who appreciate our concept and approach in bringing viable writing talent to Hollywood by adapting their already greatly told stories to film.
We are receiving great feedback and commitments from producers, independent filmmakers, studios, sponsors, agents and others daily. We are working to present a full list of participating producers, actors, actresses, and other panelist as we update the site.
One such producer is L.A. Based NiteLite Pictures. NiteLite produces orginal feature films for Miramax, Disney and the WB. They have several works in progress from pre-production to post production. Executive Producer, Harry Lowell has also worked with ABC, Dreamworks, and other industry elites. NiteLite also develops works for T.V. Harry Lowell is also one of the judges for the TV Academy, and has agreed to also be a panelist for our Book to Film Search, and review unagented scripts for production consideration submitted through Book to Film.
Submissions & Deadlines Interested published or self-published authors, literary agents, or publishers should forward a brief treatment, sypopsis and a logline along with your submission. There is an entry fee of $55.00.
The deadline for entries is September 1st, 2004, No exceptions.
About Book to Film
Book to Film is a new online nesting place for authors set apart from other literary sites. We focus on book adaptations to film. We differ from screenwriting sites, in that we only accept screenplays that are derived from books. We also differ in that our panelist are comprised of a world where avid readers work directly with a panel of producers to bring the right property to fruition. Our book reviewers, book clubs and the actors themselves are included in the process of our selection in securing the rights of future film projects by being panel members.
