Canadian Bookkeepers Association Advise to Test Your Bookkeeper

The Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA) recommends that all Canadian businesses have their bookkeepers tested immediately. In an effort to promote education and responsible accounting practices, the CBA is offering Basic skills testing free to bookkeepers and business owners.

Every one of those businesses requires accurate bookkeeping, and the CBA is on a mission to ensure that no more businesses in Canada fail due to poor accounting. A simple 30 question quiz can tell us so much about your accounting practices!" says CBA president Candice Morash.

Once a bookkeeper has completed the test, the CBA can suggest a course of action for those who do not score a successful grade. Suggestions can include educational upgrades, limiting bookkeeping practices, as well as professional development courses. For those who are successful in passing the test, professional support, recognition and continuing education can be obtained through membership in the association.

Morash said, I encourage anyone performing any type of bookkeeping to try the test, even if they are only doing their own books. Many Canadians use software for their accounting, and most with the understanding that they dont have to know anything about accounting to DO accounting! To not be aware of your aptitude and hope for the best is simply not smart business."

Basic bookkeeping tests are available through the CBA online, or via fax, and are free to bookkeepers and business owners. These test are made available to Canadians in an effort to educate you on the widespread overconfidence and the dangers of inaccurate accounting.
