Interactive Emergency Alert/Notification System Connects Communities in Israel

The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has awarded a contract to TeleCont Communications Ltd. to connect its interactive Emergency Alert System (EAS) to three West Bank communities and one seam line community - Ariel, Gush Etzion County, Beit-El, and Sderot.

Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) July 15, 2004 -- The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has awarded a contract to TeleCont Communications Ltd. to connect its interactive Emergency Alert System (EAS) to three West Bank communities and one seam line community - Ariel, Gush Etzion County, Beit-El, and Sderot.

TeleConts powerful multilingual mass message notification system will be used to deliver rapid, accurate, and secure alerts to the thousands of people living in these areas. The EAS, which can be accessed over the Web, over landlines, or from most wireless devices, has been extensively field-tested by the IDF Home Front Command in South Sharon County

The interactive EAS is designed for fast, accurate message deployment to large areas in a short time. It can contact up to 10,000 people within three minutes via voice messaging and SMS. The EAS confirms who has - or has not - received alerts, how they responded, and provides real-time reports.

The threat of terrorist attacks, pressures for health hazard monitoring and advanced weather warnings, and the need to communicate efficiently with employees in numerous locations is driving the need for communication systems that can disseminate critical information to large numbers of people over extended areas in a matter of minutes," says Steven Braun, vice president of sales and marketing at TeleCont. We used the system following the earthquake which shook the country in February," says Yitzhak Ron, chief security officer, of South Sharon County. We needed to advise schools and educational institutions in 22 communities to evacuate the buildings. We quickly accessed the system and sent out a detailed message. It worked beautifully."

The contract is the largest received by TeleCont to date.
