Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) October 4, 2008 -- Rheem was given a boost when the publishers of the innovative series of magazines, 'Australia's Best' included the Australian company for a special focus on the company's supply chain management strategies.

Rheem acknowledges the essential ingredients in its recipe for success are strong ties and open communication channels with its suppliers.

Interest in supply chain management officially sparked during the 1980s, and steadily increased as firms cottoned on to the benefits of collaborative relationships within and beyond their own organisation. Although Rheem Australia is as extension of an international brand, its local operations act autonomously in its selection of suppliers. Recognising it could compete more effectively, it has worked to establish an invaluable stable of suppliers and other entities in its supply chain.

As a result of globalisation, supply chain management has become a tool for companies to compete effectively at a local level or on a global scale, so it has become a necessity for manufacturing industries in delivering products economically and at higher quality than their competitors.

Privately-owned Rheem Australia came onto the scene in 1936 as the first international foray of the Rheem Manufacturing Company, an American drum manufacturer. Its gas water heaters were first manufactured in inner-Sydney's Waterloo in 1939 and were followed by electric water heaters in 1945. Since these beginnings, Rheem has gone from strength to strength - diversifying its product range and utilising the most up-to-date technology to keep ahead of the game and at the forefront of manufacturing techniques.

With its headquarters and main manufacturing operations now based in the Sydney suburb of Rydalmere, it has a strong presence in the local market with brands including Rheem, Solahart, Edwards, Vulcan, Raypak, Paloma, Everhot and Accent Air.

Rheem has four production sites across Australia, with these locations in NSW, WA and Victoria providing for all the Rheem brands. In Sydney alone -- Rheem's largest manufacturing base -- it has just fewer than 100 suppliers.
