Panama's Largest Utility Selects Haestad Methods'Water Resources Modeling Solutions (Versión en Español - www.haestad.com/spanish/news/default.asp?article=071904) IDAAN, Panama's Institute for National Water Supply and Sewerage Systems, has selected Haestad Methods' water distribution and sanitary sewer modeling software for application in a major project in Panama. WATERBURY, CT (PRWEB) July 23, 2004 -- IDAAN, Panama's Institute for National Water Supply and Sewerage Systems, has selected Haestad Methods' water distribution and sanitary sewer modeling software for application in a major project in Panama.
"IDAAN has selected WaterCAD and SewerCAD based on the institution's positive experience with Haestad Methods' software and support services over the years," said Joseph Johnson, Chief Project Engineer for IDAAN. "Our team has been equally impressed with the software's ease of use, accurate modeling capabilities, and reliable results."
Haestad's software will be used to help improve and expand the institution's 2,700 miles (4,250 km) of water mains and 700 miles (1,000 km) of sanitary sewers. These systems serve over 2.9 million people in eastern Panama, including customers in Pacora, Tocumen, and nearby areas.
Highlights of the project include: - Constructing a new water treatment plant with a production of 12 million gallons per day - Repairing and replacing pipes, valves, hydrants, and accessories - Constructing a new distribution network in eastern Panama - Implementing a SCADA system to control the entire network - Constructing a new water intake and 6.25-mile (4-km), 25-inch (600-mm) conduction line.
"WaterCAD is the perfect solution for this project given its ability to manage rich modeling scenarios," Johnson continued. "The software's reporting and visualization tools will be critical in helping our team spot areas that require improvements."
The contract between Haestad Methods and IDAAN also includes two onsite training programs, which are scheduled in Balboa, Panama, from July 19 to July 30, 2004. IDAAN participants will earn an A+ Modeler Certificate for each course completed on water distribution and sanitary sewer design and modeling.
"Haestad Methods' training programs have been customized to meet the unique needs of both IDAAN's modeling goals and project deadlines," said Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, Engineering Support Manager, Latin America, Haestad Methods. "This type of post-sales support has played a major role in establishing the dominance of Haestad Methods' products in the region."
