Glenn M Stewart presents THE WORLD PREMIERE of a brand new musical. IN A CITY STEEPED IN GREED, CORRUPTION AND CRIME, ONE MAN STRUGGLES TO CREATE THE PERFECT NIGHT CLUB -- THE CITY CLUB By Glenn M Stewart. Directed by Michael Fidler.

The World Premiere of Glenn M Stewarts new musical, The City Club -- a musical of greed, corruption, and crime - plays the Pleasance ACEDOME from Wednesday 4 through Monday 30 August daily (not 10 & 17th). The City Club is a dark tale of disillusion, death and broken dreams. Featuring the best blues and boogie-woogie music ever written, The City Club is set in the swankiest night club ever opened in the most jaded city imaginable. This brand new musical is directed by Michael Fidler, director of the ever popular Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens.

(PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- THE CITY CLUB PLEASANCE DOME -- Edinburgh Festival 4 through 30 August 2004

In a city steeped in greed, corruption and crime, one man struggles to create the perfect night club - The City Club. A Club where the best blues and boogie-woogie rules the house, and a man can lay down his cares, settle back in comfort, forget about the outside world and take in the show.... But as with all things, the enticement of the dream is easier than the reality...

The City Club -- 'Youll come for the pleasure but stay for the pain"

Writer Glenn M Stewart believes that the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an ideal place for The City Club to begin its life Its a very special place in giving an opportunity for writers, producers and performers to showcase their work. The Festival is a 'hothouse of new talent and unique plays, musicals and experiences -- and I certainly believe that the world premiere of The City Club will hold its own in the melange of performances at the Festival. The City Club is a truly unique marriage of musical and noir genres which results in a wickedly delicious consummation of the two on stage. The City Club is definitely for the voyeur in all of us".

Director Michael Fidler, who also previously directed Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens in London and at Edinburgh, believes that The City Club offers something new -- Theatre is becoming stifled with audiences sitting in regimented rows; they want to actually experience entertainment, not simply watch it in the dark. The City Club provides exactly such an opportunity, inviting them to plunge into the world of film-noir and boogie-woogie as participants, not mere observers. It is entertainment that lies in the spooky grey area between theatre and event and there is no better place in the world to showcase this kind of experience than the Edinburgh Festival".

The City Club is set within a Club -- and at the Pleasance ACEDOME the audience will be seated at tables and chairs, and the action will take place on The City Club stage as well as around the tables and chairs of the audience... so the audience really is the audience, able to buy drinks, smoke, and sit back, forget about the outside world, and enjoy the experience that is... The City Club.
