Really Spontaneous Theatre Co.'s Jim Meskimen getting bipartisan laughs with "This Land"

Jim Meskimen, actor and founding member of the Really Spontaneous Theatre Co. (www.rstcimprov.com), a popular LA improv group, has teamed up with Evan and Gregg Spiridellis of JibJab (www.jibjab.com)to create This Land," a hilarious animated short that features Meskimen voicing George W. Bush, John Kerry, Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

(PRWEB) July 25, 2004 --This Land" is getting such an enormous amount of press the JibJab servers couldnt support the traffic at first. This is exactly the kind of problem that Meskimen and the brothers Spiridellis welcome.

This Land" has hit such a media nerve that the Spiridellises have appeared on CBS Morning News, CNBC, the Today Show, Fox News, and will spend time with on the Tonight Show couch with Jay Leno.

This Land" is a re-teaming of the Spiridellises and Meskimen, a well-known commercial actor and familiar face from Whose Line Is It Anyway. Meskimen voiced Arnold Schwarzenegger for a short they created during Schwarzeneggers run for governor.

Meskimen said: Humor has a great capacity to create conversation and diffuse tension, and with todays current climate of divisiveness, its a great analgesic. The brilliance of the Spiridellis brothers comedy-like the Coen brothers or the Marx brothers, for that matter-is that in exaggerating points of view surrounding the presidential race, they actually bring some sense and calm to the whole mess. This short seems to have miraculous appeal to Democrats, Republicans and non-voters alike!"

Meskimen, who has appeared in such features as Apollo 13, Jingle All the Way, The Paper, Ed TV, and The Other Sister, has been doing impressions of political characters for TV since the McNeil-Lehrer Newshour hired him to add voices to their political cartoons in 1984. Meskimen has conjured George W.s voice for the X Files series finale, the George Lopez Show and Cartoon Networks Time Squad. During Bill Clintons tenure, Meskimen would get hired to do his voice as well.
