Lake Township Vol. Fire Department Takes Delivery of New Rescue Airboat

Alumitech, Inc., in Orlando, Florida announces the delivery of an 18-foot Search and Rescue (SAR) airboat to the Lake Township Vol. Fire Department, Haughton Lake, Michigan.

(PRWEB) July 27, 2004 -- The SAR airboat is an 18 x 8 aluminum hull airboat specifically designed for search and rescue operations. Built from Alumitechs standard AGI A-model, the SAR airboat was beefed up for winter and prolonged ice operation, with 3/8-inch polymer covering the hull bottom and sides and increased hull framing. The airboat is powered by a GM 496 cu. in, 425 hp, fuel injection engine, capable of running on 87 octane unleaded fuel, a 2.3:1 ratio belt-drive gear reduction unit and a 3-blade Sensenich composite propeller.

The Lake Township Vol. Fire Departments airboat has a 6-person crew seating capacity, an open hull and a 3,200 total pound load capacity. The vessel is designed with side-by-side operator and co-pilot seating, with a center instrument panel and a four-man forward crew seat.

The Lake Township Vol. Fire Department expects its new SAR airboat to be a great enhancement for winter ice rescue operations. It is also their intention to also use it for other water related emergencies on the many lakes within its territory and for mutual aid in neighboring communities in the Haughton Lake area.
