Queensland Company and Bond Wireless Get in on China's SMS Revolution

Queensland Premier, Peter Beattie today congratulated award-winning Queensland information and communications technology company Bond Wireless on clinching major SMS partnership agreements with two leading companies in China.

Beijing, China (PRWEB) July 27, 2004 -- "Bond Wireless is a Smart State business and its latest deals could see it earn millions of dollars from SMS messaging in China," Mr Beattie said. "It has signed agreements with Internet service provider Net263 and mobile phone operator Dragon Telecom. Bond Wireless has been creating innovative SMS solutions for businesses from its base on the Gold Coast, which is fast becoming the Smart State's Silicon Coast, since its inception in 2002. In a relatively short time, this high growth business has proved itself to be an innovative player in the international SMS market, exporting to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, the United States and Europe. It won the Emerging Exporter Category at the Gold Coast Regional Export Awards in 2003."

Under its partnership arrangements, Bond Wireless will develop innovative SMS solutions to enhance customer service, provide B to C marketing tools and improve business processes. With China one of the fastest growing mobile phone user markets in the world, Bond Wireless is in a great position to capitalise on this huge potential. The Chinese send 10 billion SMS messages a month despite the difficulties posed by messaging in the Chinese language.

Dr. Clarence Tan, chairman and chief executive officer of Bond Wireless, said that making SMS messaging available from desktop PCs would make it easier to send SMS messages to mobile phones and had the potential to unleash even greater demand. "We are very excited about these deals," said Dr Tan, who is a member of the trade mission being led by Mr Beattie. "Our cutting edge solutions will enable customers in China to send SMS messages overseas and it gives us the opportunity to access the Chinese market through our partners by their implementing our SMS Print, Campaign MessengerTM and SMS SecureTransTM products in their systems."

Net263 is one of the largest internet service providers in China and Dragon Telecom is one of the largest mobile telcos in China.
