(PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Colorado Governor Bill Owens has proclaimed August 1, 2004 as "Historical Photo Restoration Day."

Current technology allows the easy restoration of damaged photographs which are important to preserving state and family history. Whether a photo is torn, cracked, faded or otherwise damaged, there are many available resources to repair these photos.

Colorado's "Historical Photo Restoration Day" is designed to help build awareness of the need to preserve and restore photos. Genealogist Darlene Leyburn shares "More photos are damaged each day than are repaired. It's important to save the photos that are truly important to us."

Photos can be repaired by local photo professionals or by individuals using photo-editing software. The most recommended resource for those would-be photo restorers is Katrin Eismann's "Digital Photo Restoration & Retouching". There are also many free tutorials available at RetouchPro.Com.

If you'd rather trust a local photo professional, you can search the nationwide photo restoration directory hosted by Hollywood Fotofix, Inc.at http://www.hollywoodfotofix.com to find the nearest restoration expert near you.

If you have photos that you would like to share with family or display, please take the opportunity to look into restoring and preserving it... And what better day than "Historical Photo Restoration Day"?
