Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2008 -- Marley Majcher, Founder and CEO of The Party Goddess! (www.thepartygoddess.com), has important tips about planning a great holiday party without breaking the bank.

So can you throw a real bash on a budget even if you're feeling the squeeze? Absolutely. Marley offers these invaluable tips:

1. Think multi-purpose. Make every aspect of your event work double time in order to get the most bang for the buck.

2. Create edible centerpieces. Individual sweets on a pedestal in the middle of each table double as décor and dessert.

3. Create an inspiration board or binder for your party to collect and organize thoughts as well as build tons of excitement. Tear out photos from magazines, advertisements, pull ribbon and fabric swatches and use paint chips to organize your color scheme.

4. Invest in some clear cylindrical vases to use for flowers, as buffet risers, to hold décor and other party necessities. Glass vases are economical because they can be used over and over for many events and can deliver lots of style for not a lot of green.

5. Stop and think. How can you come up with great décor options for little or no money? Example: Christmas tree lots are a perfect option because the lots trim the trees to attach their water receptacles and get rid of tons of extra green branches.

6. Create vignettes. Remember not all of your centerpieces have to be identical. If you're using what you've got on hand, try and arrange décor that complements each other but is not necessarily exactly the same.

"The fact that we're in a recession is starting to sound like a broken record. The gloom and doom surrounding us all would take the excitement out of even the most festive occasions. This lagging economy is reminiscent of the post 9/11 period where people decided to entertain at home more, keeping the guest list to those they really wanted to entertain, cutting out lavish extras and spending smart without going overboard. ," states Majcher.
