Open Source Musician "Another Dreamer" Releases Debut Album

Singer / songwriter Another Dreamer releases his debut album, The World Outside. All tracks are free for download at his weblog. Reviews requested.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2004 -- He's been compared to Pulp, Blur, and Badly Drawn Boy, but Another Dreamer's new debut, The World Outside, is unique in its brand of troubled optimism.

A reviewer from the blog 1stepahead wrote, "The songs are a good mix of deadpan singing that explore the heights of hedged optimism and depths of merry pessimism from the agony of paycheck-chasing to pleasures that are sometimes too briefly enjoyed, namely swimming naked and falling in love."

"Freedom" is a theme that comes to mind when listening to Another Dreamer, and not only because of the emergence of this theme in the stand-out track "Freedom Fries." The album is a celebration of freedom: it was written and recorded without the oftentimes stifling influence of a record company, and it has been released under an Open Source, Creative Commons license. All of the tracks are available for FREE at the Another Dreamer blog: http://www.anotherdreamer.net. Sharing and remixing are encouraged.

According to Another Dreamer, "Traditional record companies are becoming obsolete. Technology has taken us to a point where artists are able to record and distribute music independently. The time has come for artists to end the RIAA's grip on the music industry and to start reaching out to fans more directly. Music should be set free, fans should not be persecuted for sharing songs, and yet at the same time artists do need to get paid fairly." Another Dreamer is earning a modest income through tips collected at the site, as well as through CD and book royalties (he also wrote a novel called "The State That I Am In" a few years back).

Album reviews requested. Available for interview.
