Doc to Dock Sends Emergency Medical Relief to Haiti

Doc to Dock joins Governor David Patterson and the State of New York in a joint effort to send emergency relief to Haiti after suffering from devastating damage this hurricane season. While the mission of Doc to Dock has been primarily focused on sub-Saharan Africa we recognize the special circumstance of Haiti, as the poorest country in our hemisphere.

(Vocus) October 15, 2008 -- Responding to Governor Patterson’s appeal, Doc to Dock is re-directing a segment of our mission to emergency disaster relief as well as to the overall improvement of community and facility-based health care in Haiti.

With supplies regularly collected from the Greater New York Hospital Association’s Network as well as other hospitals nationally, Doc to Dock was able to deliver a truckload of vitally needed general medical supplies, orthopedic equipment and baby formula to the New York state staging area on September 24, 2008. Lee Perlman, President of the GNYHA Ventures, Inc. was primarily responsible for bringing the governor’s request to Doc to Dock.

Doc to Dock is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that collects unused medical supplies from U.S. hospitals and then sorts, catalogues and ships them to hospitals and medical centers in Africa.
