MOMS TO MARCH ACROSS AMERICA--Moms for Kerry Announces Rallies Planned in 18 States--Nationwide Participation Expected on October 30, 2004 Moms for Kerry announces Nationwide Rally on October 30, 2004 at 3:00 PM EDT. 18 states have already signed up with multiple locations in key swing states. Group expects nationwide participation. Rallies will feature famous moms, local electeds and local moms and kids. Moms will gather to stand up and speak out for their children's futures and for our nation. Billed as one day. One Hour. One chance to take back our country. Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 10, 2004 -- Mothers across the country are signing up to be a part of the largest nationwide political rally in history. Citing the need to take action for our childrens futures, Moms for Kerry is organizing a grassroots effort that will include house parties, a letters to the editor campaign and the groups main focus, National Rally Day.
On October 30 at 3:00 pm EDT, mothers and their children will participate in marches and rallies across the country. The event is designed to allow mothers to make their voices heard in their own community rather than traveling to a single rally location. Moms for Kerry believes that as supporters join hands and hearts for Americas children in small towns and big cities across the United States, our voices will echo from sea to shining sea.
The rallies will be held at locations as diverse as our country itself. From capitol steps to a county courthouse, a community park to a city hall plaza, mothers (and others who care about Americas kids) will gather at the same hour on the same day to take a stand and speak up for our children. Some of the rallies will feature famous mothers while others will highlight local moms and elected officials who will speak about John Kerry and John Edwards and why they are the choice for Americas children and mothers. Others will include participants marching in purposeful silence as they express how this administration has silenced the future of Americas children through its destructive policies on education, the environment, foreign policy and the economy.
Across this country, thousands of concerned Americans are signing up to be a part of this historic event," said Heidi Wanken, founder of Moms for Kerry. We are witnessing a movement of mothers that may very well influence the outcome of this election. Our voices must be loud and clear in the coming days. We have a responsibility to our children to ensure a brighter tomorrow filled with hope and prosperity instead of the borrow and bankrupt policies of the Bush administration that are being bankrolled on the backs of our kids."
The group announced today that 18 states are already signed up to participate in the event, including multiple rallies in several key swing states. Among the rallies currently scheduled are Raleigh, NC; Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; St. Louis and Warrensburg, MO and Columbus, OH. In addition, the group is recruiting organizers throughout the country and expects to have nationwide participation with multiple rally locations in each state.
Columbus moms are taking a stand for their childrens futures and will play an active role in this years campaign," said Hinda Majri-Yates, the Columbus Moms for Kerry director. Were very busy -- from registering voters to planning house parties and organizing the Columbus Moms for Kerry rally. Columbus moms are committed to win the Buckeye State for John Kerry!"
Moms for Kerry formed in November as a core group of mothers determined to make a difference in the 2004 election through grassroots organizing. Members felt the need to take action and get involved in the political process in order to make their voices heard after watching the Bush policies of the last few years that have abandoned Americas children in favor of special interests. There are more than 100 million mothers in the United States and the demographic is one that is respected and valued by candidates based on mothers consistent turnout on Election Day and their commitment to the issues that affect our children and country.
When mothers pull the lever at the polls, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of their children and look for the candidate who will put the interests of Americas children and their futures as a top priority. John Kerry and John Edwards have demonstrated that they will do that and they have outlined a plan for our childrens futures that is comprehensive in its scope. That is why they are the mothers in this election," Wanken stated.
