The Hot Buttered Rum String Band Kicks Off Its Voter Registration Campaign

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2004 -- The young, Bay Area based high-altitude California bluegrass band, the Hot Buttered Rum String Band, is 'rocking the vote by registering young voters while on tour in California, the Northeast, the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest.

The members of the Hot Buttered Rum String Band hope to educate and give young voters a chance to register to vote and to also educate them about their choice to cast absentee ballots while away from their home state while at college.

The May 27, 2004, Rolling Stone stated, ... interviews with college students, civil rights attorneys, political strategists and legal experts reveal that election officials all over the country are erecting illegal barriers to keep young voters from casting ballots."

The Hot Buttered Rum String Band is acting to change this, band member Zac Matthews expressed, "So often these days, people are excluded from the political arena -- watching or reading along as if viewing a spectator sport. The presidential election is one of the fundamental ways for people to voice their opinion -- by making it easy for people to register to vote at our shows, we are empowering people to engage in politics and to make the government truly representative of their views."
