TELEVISION CITY, CA (PRWEB) August 1, 2004 -- Orange County Horn Driven Rockers SUBURBAN LEGENDS are slated to perform during the 6th hour of the legendary Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon on Labor Day weekend, September 5-September 6.

Currently in its 39th year, the 21.5-hour nationally syndicated telecast has come to be known as the ultimate Great American variety show," and has boasted a myriad of notable performers in its history-from Woody Allen to Johnny Carson, Cher to the B52s, the Boys Choir of Harlem to the Lord of the Dance.

In addition to being aired on 200 Love Network" stations, the Telethon will also be available for viewing on the Muscular Dystrophy Association website: www.mdausa.org, via streaming video. The broadcast is intended to raise funds and awareness for the Associations programs of research and services benefiting people with neuromuscular disease. Check local listings for stations and start times.

As always, Lewis, MDAs national chairman, will host the Telethon. He will, in similar tradition, be assisted by longtime Telethon anchor Ed MacMahon, a member of the Associations Board of Directors.

According to the current Telethon press release, Lewis goal for this year is to surpass the 2003 pledges and donations record of $60.5 million by one dollar. The event is dedicated to the recently passed Mattie J.T. Stepanek, poet and MDA National Goodwill Ambassador.

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat dozens of neuromuscular diseases through programs of expansive research, wide-ranging services, and professional and public health education. The Associations programs are funded almost exclusively by individual private contributors.
