Allison Tartalia: Singer, Songwriter... Student Driver! 'Ready' for the Road Tour Reaches Charlotte September 3rd and 4rd Allison Tartalia The jazz-folk artist behind the award-winning album, Ready, is hitting the highway and bringing her "Student Driver: Ready for the Road Tour" to the Southeast for a series of intimate, acoustic performances on guitar and piano. (PRWEB) August 17, 2004 -- Stay off the sidewalks! Allison Tartalia, the artist with the award-winning album Ready, is getting behind the wheel to tour the East Coast for the first time since obtaining a driver's license in July. The jazz-folk artist is hitting the highway and bringing her "Student Driver: Ready for the Road Tour" to the Southeast for a series of intimate, acoustic performances on guitar and piano. She'll be performing two engagements in Charlotte, NC - The Evening Muse Friday, September 3 at 7:00 pm, and at Wine Up, on Saturday, September 4, at 9:00 pm. (A complete tour itinerary follows).
Tartalia survived her college days in New York City without a driver's license. But as a performing artist, "lugging a digital piano around on public transportation is impractical at best!" says Tartalia, who has extensively toured the Northeast as a pedestrian. Shifting gears and moving south, Tartalia is steering her tour towards Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.
The "Student Driver: Ready for the Road Tour" includes three performances that are a part of the Music for Life fund-raising concert series benefiting the American Cancer Society (ACS). Tartalia and fellow Music for Life concert artists, Vicki Blankenship, Patti Witten and Danielle Miraglia, have also released the compilation CD Music For Life: Volume I, which is available from the online retailer CD Baby. Proceeds from CD sales go to ACS.
Described by The New York Times, as a "singer with a sultry voice", Allison has built a dedicated following in preferred New York locales and she is a popular festival performer. Her musical blend of rock, jazz, alt-folk, and pop receives radio airplay across North America and is met with critical acclaim coast to coast: Chuck Eddy of New York's The Village Voice says, "Wonder of wonders, this native New Yorker's debut CD sounds legitimately more jazzy than folky -- smack-dab in the Laura Nyro/Ricki Lee Jones/Sophie B. Hawkins lineage" and Jason Serinus of San Diego's Update says " . . . a striking, bright voice that sings out with edgy, quirky intensity."
After winning the 2003 OMA for Outstanding Debut Recording - Female, Tartalia signed a distribution deal with Goldenrod Music. Her album is available at independent music stores nationwide. Ready is also for sale at CDBaby.com, Amazon.com, TowerRecords.com, and is now offered digitally for download from Apple's iTunes.
