SNL Financial Creates Foundation to Benefit Local Communities

The SNL Cares Foundation served as a sponsor for this past weekend's 2008 Start! Charlottesville Heart Walk.

Charlottesville, Va. (Vocus) October 20, 2008-- SNL Financial (http://www.snl.com/) has announced the formation of the SNL Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization providing corporate-level support for charitable causes selected by SNL employees as a positive way of contributing to the global communities where they live and work.

With initial funding from SNL of $100,000 for calendar year 2008 supplemented by elective contributions from clients, the SNL Cares Foundation will make donations to Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations based on employee recommendations.

"SNL has always been actively involved in our local communities, and with the establishment of the SNL Cares Foundation, we hope to build on this strong tradition of charitable, grassroots giving," said Michael Latsko, Chief Talent Officer at SNL Financial. "Our employees support diverse causes worldwide, and we are delighted to have them guide the Foundation's efforts."

The Foundation has already contributed to several charitable events in Charlottesville, Va., home of SNL's corporate headquarters, including this past weekend's 2008 Start! Heart Walk for the American Heart Association. The Foundation donated $10,000, serving as the Learn From Me - Get Fit Sponsor. In addition, a team from SNL Financial joined thousands of walkers from throughout Central Virginia to raise money and awareness for this country's No. 1 and No. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke.
