Sarsparilla Success - New Bottling Plant and More Choice from Mawson's Traditional Drinks

Seventy years after herbalist Joe Mawson formulated his Sarsaparilla Cordial, the drink is experiencing a strong revival at the hands of grandson Nigel. To meet demand, Mawsons Traditional Drinks Ltd. has just moved to a new bottling plant in Bacup, has expanded the product range and has new products under development.

(PRWEB) August 21, 2004 -- Following Joes recipe, using pure plant extracts, Nigel has recreated the authentic taste known to generations. The cordial is currently available through health food shops, supermarkets (including Booths), department stores and at farmers markets and country fairs. The company also report increasing interest from hoteliers, restaurateurs, caterers and publicans seeking a more distinctive non-alcoholic drink.

Building on this success, Nigel has launched two more traditional cordials -- Dandelion & Burdock and Cream Soda. Plans for ready-to-drink versions of all three drinks, each blended with sparkling water, are well underway. Nigel explained. Some of our customers remember our traditional drinks from their youth, but it is encouraging to see a new generation make the discovery. Our customers can dilute the cordial to their taste. Traditionally, the drink is diluted using still spring water, sparkling water or soda water. We know one customer who mixes her Sarsaparilla with Vodka, but I am sure grandfather would not have approved."

All the traditional drinks are packed in 500ml glass bottles with stoppers secured by lever action clips (Grolsch style). Sarsaparilla is also available in a traditional stoneware crock that makes an attractive gift.

Sarsaparilla is a shrub grown in the West Indies. Mawsons make no medicinal claims for the drink, but in herbal lore Sarsaparilla is said to be a blood purifier and is associated with Rheumatism relief and improved kidney function. The pure extract is very strong and so ginger, liquorice and other ingredients are used in the Mawsons recipe to round out the flavour.
