(PRWEB) August 25, 2004 -- Capital Rainbowfest, the annual Trenton Gay Pride event, will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2004 in Trentons picturesque and historic Mill Hill Park. Capital Rainbowfest features live music and entertainment, merchants and artisans, business services and community organizations, a wide variety of food and drink, and a kidspace activity area.
The festival will run from 1-6 p.m. rain or shine and there is a $5 suggested donation. Capital Rainbowfest is one of thousands that are held across the globe each year to celebrate gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and intersex (GLBTI) pride worldwide.
Capital Rainbowfest's sponsors are the Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association (TGLCA) and the Personal Liberty Fund.
Earlier this year, the TGLCA awarded New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey its biannual Trenton Triangle Award, for the governor's contributions towards obtaining domestic partnership rights for same-sex couples in New Jersey. The award was accepted by Jaime Fox, the governor's Chief of Staff.
"We're hopeful that this year, the governor will accept our invitation to attend Capital Rainbowfest," said TGLCA logistics coordinator Peter Frycki.
This is the third year that TGLCA will be presenting Capital Rainbowfest which has grown bigger and better each year. This year they expect the largest assortment of vendors, the most diverse entertainment to date and the largest attendance ever. Each year we celebrate the diversity of our community as well as the incredible civil rights gains everywhere," said TGLCA president Robert Laczko. This year in New Jerseys capital we have more reason to celebrate our community pride than ever before -- both gay and non-gay. With the Domestic Partnership Law in our great state and so many GLBTI community groups and their allies working so hard for full civil rights in New Jersey, 2004 is truly a year of great pride. Our Capital city of Trenton is also beginning a true renaissance in business, arts and entertainment with input from all parts of the city.
Corporate sponsors this year include: Buddies Pub and Out in Jersey magazine.
The Trenton Gay and Lesbian Civic Association is dedicated to improving life for all Trenton's citizens, and to attracting new LBGTI residents to our historic and forward-looking city.
