Catherine and Rudy Martinez launched Agave Music Box & Gift Company to remind families of the importance of experiencing and passing on the traditions and passions of our heritage. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, Agave Music Box & Gift Company has launched a special collection of music boxes featuring the romantic music of Mexico.

Married into a culturally rich Hispanic family, Catherine Martinez of Phoenix, Arizona joined her husband, Rudy in his passionate journey to preserve his native Hispanic culture for their family and others in their lives. Grown from these experiences is an avid desire to inspire others to think about their own heritage, their culture and what traditions they are passing on to their families.

With the prominent Latin influence in her life, Martinez longed to bring the beauty and romance of Latin music to a line of custom music boxes. With the support and guidance from her husband, Martinez set out to create an opportunity to offer hand-crafted products, made from skilled artists, whose knowledge had been handed down from generations before them. Fueled by the love of Hispanic heritage and mantra, Experience the Rhythm of Tradition", their dream was catapulted into reality.

On May 5, 2004, Catherine and Rudy Martinez launched Agavé Music Box & Gift Company, an online retail store, dedicated to preserving tradition and culture.

A collector for decades, it was during the research process to launch the business Catherine learned just how small the world really is. Not unlike other countries, the rich beauty of Mexico is a unique blend of cultures and traditions from around the world. She found Latin music itself, is a creation of rhythms from Africa, the Caribbean, Cuba, Central and South Americas, Mexico and many parts of Europe.

Her first task was to commission local scratch-board artist, Scott Seibel of Tempe, to create unique art for an exclusive line of limited edition, heirloom quality music boxes. Flores del Barril" is the first custom music box in the first series, entitled Flores del Desierto" or Flowers of the Desert". Martinez and Seibel have created five (5) unique designs for this series and three (3) enchanting designs for the Pink Ribbon Collection, dedicated to funding Breast Cancer Research. All of the designs capture the beauty of the southwestern desert using the art of fine marquetry (art that becomes small piece of colored veneers, hand-inlaid and applied to boxes made of fine wood). Customers can personalize their limited edition music box by selecting one of the five amorous Latin songs - Béseme Mucho, Cielto Lindo, Cuando Caliente el Sol, La Paloma or Solamenta Una Vez.
