Wheeling Symphony Performs Steven R. Gerbers Fanfare For The Voice Of America

Andre Raphael Smith Conducts Steven R. Gerbers Memorial Fanfare In Response To The September 11th Attacks Of 2001

NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) August 27, 2004 -- Written to commemorate the memory of those lost in the attacks on September 11th, 2001, Fanfare for the Voice of America will be performed on September 5th & 9thby the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, André Raphel Smith, conducting.

A poignant and dignified work for brass and percussion, the Fanfare For The Voice Of America was commissioned by former VOA director Robert Reilly in response to a conversation that he and Steven Gerber had regarding the tragedy of September 11 that took place in New York City and Washington D.C.. Gerber, who was born and raised in the D.C-area has been living and composing in New York for over twenty years. As a former D.C. and current resident of New York City, Steven Gerber has written a personal statement with his Fanfare For The Voice Of America regarding the tragedy of that September morning.
