Philly Rock's as Brotherly Love Concert Shines at The TLA Theater with Charlie Gracie, The Orlons, Soul-Survivors, and more.. George Manney, of GEOSOUND, produced the event for his Documentary Due to the dream of putting a Documentary Film about the great music and radio artists that have been launched world-wide out of Philadelphia over the last 5 decades, Philly Musician and studio-owner George Manney pulled off a coup by having his favorites perform live to a sold-out crowd on Tuesday, August 24th. (PRWEB) August 29, 2004 -- Charlie Gracie,(Butterfy, 99 Ways, etc.) a world-wide favorite, headlined a show featuring the Orlons, (who FINALLY got to sing their hit "South Street" ON South Street at the TLA Theater), The Soul-Survivors (Expressway To Your Heart) and Rock Faves like Tommy Conwell, The American Dream, and Nazz2, (starring Stewkey, lead singer on the smash "Hello, It's Me.)Rufus Harley, the jazz bagpipe king joined Essra Mohawk, a Philly favorite for years now touring the East, Linda Cohen, and new artists including Lauren Hart, The Last Minute Jam Band, Byard Lancaster and Phila-A-Funk.
All performed live, with a huge Jam at the end involving everyone. The TLA hasn't rocked like this in years. Gracie, The Orlon's and The Soul-Survivors destroyed the crowd live, singing their hits and sounding better than ever. An onstage big-screen doubled the action for the crowd as Manney's film crew taped the entire event for his documentary, called "Brotherly Love." Major musical instrument manufacturers Tama Drums, Ibenez Guitars, and Cintola Music provided instruments and PR, and Electric Factory Concerts donated the facility for the evening.
The MC's were long-time and legendary Philly favorites Gene Shay, (the longest-running folk program in the city, and a major player in the Philadelphia Folk Festival for years, WMGK's Micheal Tearson, who now can also be heard on Serius Sattelite Radio, a long-time progressive rock efficiando, Steve Kurtz (Cruisin 92.1 FM), and Giant Gene Arnold, who had the first rock, funk, and disco programs in Philly, along with appearing frequently at D'Scene, a huge Disco with 3000 dancers nightly. He is currently featured on his "Sounds Of Philly" programs at www.giantgene.com
Chickie and Pete's, a popular chain of Philly eateries, also sponsored the show, along with Copacabana, a popular South Street gathering place. Pete Ciarocchi, reminded Giant Gene when he introduced him on-stage that he used to dance on his TV show with RJ, and at D'Scene.
It was a night of warm memories and hot music as a long-time dream for George Manney came true. More Info, links to the stars, and pics are available at www.geoound.org,
