"I hate school!" "I hate school!" (PRWEB) September 5, 2004 -- "I dont want to go school shopping!" wailed the little girl as I watched her mother grip her hand and propel her toward the entrance to the mall. "Its still summer," she grumbled. "I hate school!"
I figured kids who are feeling miserable about returning to school after a fun summer arent going to trust an adults advice on the subject. So I decided to ask some other kids at the mall to share their wisdom and experience instead.
Tyler, age 8 "Ya gotta go. Me and my [older brother are gonna get on the bus with a fake snake and scare the girls! Its so fun!"
David, Tylers brother, age 11 "Going back [to school aint bad. Playing all the time gets you bored. Im ready to go back. I like math and my last year teacher put me in Math Lab and I can do more math and learn more than the kids in my grade. Im in 6th grade."
Johan, age 14 "Summer vacations too long. You get use[d to being out of school after a couple of months. Why cant we go for one month and have one week off, and another month and then a week off, like that. Then it wont be so bad. You wont get tired of school so much that way."
Lisette, age 15 "The best way to like school better is to do good. Being a good student means you have a chance for a good future life. You might not be really popular but thats not bad because you can spend more time doing your schoolwork. My Mom says anybody can be popular but it takes good grades to go to college."
Stacey, age 12 "My school just changed to uniforms this year. I use[d to love the first couple weeks of school because I had new clothes to wear. Now I have to learn another way to express myself. Its like a challenge, you know."
Kyle, age 18 "I graduate this year, so schools going to be about getting into college for me. Its cool to be a senior. I got nothing to prove. Thats what makes school hard. You have to prove that youre good to the teachers and cool to the kids. Thats a little hard but you can do it. Tell them to remember that school doesnt last forever just like summer."
