St Johnsbury, VT (PRWEB) November 4, 2008 -- Today is the day Mom Writer's Literary Magazine (MWLM) launches its winter issue. With this issue the publication switches to a bi-annual format, doubling up each issue. The new expanded version of the publication includes more than 84 pages of advice and encouragement for mom writers everywhere. The popular published- and on-line magazine contains a variety of features, profiles and reviews that support the efforts of parent writers.

The winter issue of MWLM is full of fun starting with the cover feature on author Melissa Stanton. Stay-at-home mom Stanton dispenses practical advice on how to make the career-to-home transition, what to do about money matters, and how to keep your sanity in a little-kid world. And, Stanton is not afraid to tackle sensitive issues like sex after children, and how to fight the boredom and loneliness that sometimes accompany this stage of a woman's life.

The popular profiles, mainstays of MWLM, include summaries on four inspirational women. Shari McDonald Strong's parenting opportunities got an unconventional start through the surrogacy birth of twins and the adoption of a beautiful Russian baby girl. Her commentary on politics, spirituality and motherhood are a most interesting read. Patricia Harman spent 30 years as a midwife before she was able to find the time to devote to writing. Her fist book "The Blue Cotton Gown: A Midwife's Memoir" touchingly chronicles her years gently bringing babies into the world. BIRTH, an insightful play by writer Karen Brody, developed after Brody interviewed more than 100 women on their birth experiences. Finally the winter edition of MWLM includes a profile on writer K.L. Going. Going, author of several teen and tween novels, perfectly captures the feelings, mind-set and angst experienced by this age group.

Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and this issue of MWLM reviews four selections. "Away" by Amy Bloom, a practicing psychotherapist who understands the euphoria and sorrow of love, chronicles an immigrant woman's love for her daughter. In "The Wednesday Sisters," Meg Waite Clayton tells the story of a group of friends in the late 1960s. The winter issue of Mom Writer Literary Magazine also reviews "A Dozen Invisible Pieces and Other Confessions of Motherhood" by Kimmelin Hull and "National Security Mom," by Gina M. Bennett. Hull's non-fiction book details her humorous and practical approach to motherhood, while Bennett's book provides an insightful look at today's terrorism and security issues, all from a mother's perspective.

Winter can be an unsettling time for many women. A time of re-birth or a time of hibernation, winter provides unique opportunities for mom writers as they transition from an outdoor season of fun, to a more house-bound time of creativity. MWLM provides advice, tips and selections designed to make this transition easier.

Mom Writer's Literary Magazine strives to enhance female writers through all seasons. "Our publication understands the needs and nuances of the writing mother. As the seasons change, so do the needs of our readers. We try to anticipate and provide the most useful information as possible. And, by moving to our semi-annual format, we have more time to prepare just the right articles for the period our readers are in, and we can delve more deeply into the issues" said Paula Schmitt, MWLM's founder and publisher.

In addition to all the wonderful pieces, MWLM includes an on-line store, and the First-Line writing contest where one talented writer receives $100 for her essay completing a prompt sentence. More information can be found in the publication, or on-line. Mom Writer's Literary Magazine's blog can also be found online.
