New Palm Software Puts 3,000 Years of History in One's Pocket

Events Day-by-Day is a comprehensive daily calendar of historical events including every major event in history, famous person born or died, feast days of saints and religious and national holidays around the world for every day of the year. It works on any Palm Operating System device. The Palm version costs $15.00 and the content also available online for free from www.writersdreamtools.com

(PRWEB) September 10, 2004 -- Almost every major event in history is contained in a new software program that works on any Palm Operating System device. Called Events Day-by-Day, it consists of a daily calendar of historical events dating back to 1184 BC (the traditional date of Greeks using a Trojan horse to get inside city of Troy to win the Trojan War) to the latest 2004 terrorist atrocities.

More than 5,300 major events in history are included - war, government, aviation, art, entertainment, black history, famous firsts, women's rights, sports, automotive, business, space, science, industry, patents and inventions, and natural disasters. The births and deaths of almost every famous person are included as well as religious and national holidays and feast days of the saints.

According to Larry Belling, who has developed the program, "It is really useful for speechwriters stuck for an opening sentence, or for students eager to make their teachers think they are smarter than they actually are. There is something about mentioning what happened today in history that makes a person seem extremely knowledgeable and helps bring history to life."

Besides being a valuable resource for students and writers, Events Day-by-Day can be useful for planning holidays. "An anniversary or Independence Day can be exciting," says Belling. He points to November 5, 2005 as being a great time to visit London, for instance, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes attempt to blow up Britain's Houses of Parliament in the gunpowder plot. "It should be the greatest fireworks show in the world," he says.

For non-Palm owners, all the content in the programs is available free from Belling's website at www.writersdreamtools.com Events Day-by-Day is available as a $15.00 download.

Writer's Dreamtools is a series of six programs including two free historical programs (the other is a cultural history organized by decades), and four subscription programs including a slang thesaurus (the only one on the web), a dictionary of clichés and catch phrases, a collection of lists, and humorous quotations.
