The Fall Art Season Begins in Brooklyn BWAC Announces the Opening of their Solo Art Show and Solo Performance Series" (PRWEB) September 10, 2004 -- The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalitions (BWAC) fall Solo Art Show and Solo Performance Series" opens on September 18th. Opening day special events include a Meet the Artists reception and recitals by jazz vocalist, Paul Jeanine. Guitarist Carlos Salvaterra and horn player Jenny Hill follow with performances on Sunday, kicking off BWACs new Solo Performance Series" of live and unplugged" music recitals. BWACs Artists Speak Series" continues on the weekend of October 16th and 17th when twenty eight artists will discuss their work, inspirations, and techniques. A running Affordable Art Auction" with bids starting as low as $35 continues throughout the exhibition, with final bids being cast during the show closing on November 7th. The show and all performances are free; but only open on weekends from noon to 5 PM.
At the Solo Art Show, 300 BWAC artists will showcase their best work, each artist acting as their own curator. Having the artist choose from their own work injects freshness and variety into an exhibition not found at most gallery shows. BWAC prides itself as allowing the artists to fully express their own voices without the burdens of a curator or salesperson choosing work based on salability or personal preference.
BWAC represents a true melting pot of creative ideas and artists. While every artist enjoys selling work, and even though BWAC artists tend to sell handsomely at our exhibitions, sales arent the primary goal of our artists." says BWAC President John Strohbeen. Having their work seen in a beautiful and accessible venue, being able to discuss their works with their audience, and being able to contribute to an outstanding eclectic mix of work is key."
So knock the sand out of your shoes, wear your favorite fall outfit, come see the new, exciting works being presented at BWACs Solo Art Show" and enjoy free, live music.
Were very proud of this collection of work," says Solo Show" chairperson Cindy Chatman. Its great proof that interesting and extraordinary art is being made by living artists". ###
