Nettica.com announces support for the Sender Policy Framework email initiative.

Nettica.com, a leading domain name system (DNS) provider for the Internet, announced today support for the anti-spam SPF initiative.

(PRWEB) September 12, 2004 -- Nettica.com has announced support for the Sender Policy Framework, a new anti-spam initiative soon to be implemented by major ISPs including AOL and Hotmail.

SPF helps prevent spoofing of email, often used by spammers and viruses to spread themselves. It provides a way for email servers to authenticate whether a sender is allowed to send email on behalf of a particular domain name.

"Supporting SPF makes a difference", says Alan Graham, Nettica's President. "For example, we have a customer who runs a free email service in Mexico who had been targeted by a virus. After implementing SPF, the amount of DNS traffic and abuse complaints for their domains dropped 80%."

AOL and Hotmail have both announced upcoming support for SPF and Sender ID, starting October 1st.
