Greatest American Firearms Engravers and Custom Gunmakers Gather in Reno, Nevada January 23-25 '09 Celebrating 25 Years of Partnership

A unique partnership between Firearms Engravers Guild of America and the American Custom Gunmakers Guild began 25 years ago displaying the finest quality custom rifles, shotguns and hand guns and the tradition carries on. Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 8, 2008 -- One of many highlights of this year's exhibition is "The Special Hornet" ACGG Firearm #24. A perfect small game and fun recreational shooting gun is the latest creation by a team of members of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG). A unique but traditional American action and cartridge has been created as a Winchester 1885 .22 Hornet. A lucky person will have the opportunity to own "The Special Hornet" by purchasing a ticket. Special features for this special anniversary year will include displays by members of the American Bladesmith Society including well-known knifemakers Al Pendray, Red St. Cyr, Jay Hendrickson, Charlie Ochs and others. These craftsmen of the forged blade will showcase their unique one-of-a-kind knives. Back again will be members of the Contemporary Longrifle Association including Ron Scott and Jim Chambers. Contemporary muzzleloading and shooting accoutrements fascinate every history and shooting fan.

A noteworthy historical display of custom guns rarely seen will provide a not-to-miss opportunity for all who appreciate fine guns. The focus for this exhibit will be post WWII custom makers who shaped the trends of modern gunmaking. One of Jack O'Connor's personal .270s will be available to examine.

Seminars presented on Monday, January 26th by the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA) and American Custom Gunmakers Guild is free and open to anyone interested.

FEGA seminars will be under the guidance of qualified engravers who generously share information acquired from decades of hands on experience. Presently scheduled are Lee Griffiths - Tools and Techniques of Sculpting, Mike Dubber - Lettering and Borders and Bob Strosin - Preparing and Finishing Firearms.

The American Custom Gunmakers seminars (www.acgg.org) will start at 8:30am-11:30am. Specific topics presented by Gary Goudy will discuss and show his DVD on leather covered recoil pad, James Dubell will answer questions after showing his DVD on re-boring and re-rifling. For those unable to attend these seminars DVDs or videos will be available.

Reno hosts three days of the finest in contemporary American custom guns. Hours of exhibition Friday 12:00 pm to 9pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm. Admission is $20/day per person.
