Longwood, FL PRWEB) September 15, 2004 -- Magna Medical Screening Services and the Director of the National Youth Anti Drug Media Campaign, Robert W. Denniston, are at odds over a particular Public Service Announcement (PSA) that is currently playing across the country. Magna Medical has challenged the Office of National Drug Control Policy use of a radio PSA titled I Hate You," citing the ad as a complication to an already-delicate situation.
In a letter to the Vice President of Magna Medical, Denniston acknowledges that the PSA portrays a dramatic confrontation" but does not agree that it should be pulled from the air waves. Magna Medical has written to radio stations across the USA asking that the I Hate You" PSA be pulled off the air.
The PSA features a parent apparently invading a childs bedroom in order to search the room for drugs. The child then reacts in a horrible rage, firing off such statements as I Hate You," and the ad completes by telling parents to get over their fears of the childs resentment.
Magna Medical believes this ad is sending the wrong message to parents. In an era where the intrusion of civil liberties and the Freedoms Act are huge issues, Magna does not agree with an ad encouraging parents to raid a childs personal space.
While Magna Medical agrees with the statements in most of the PSAs and applauds the measures of the Office of National Drug Control Policy to assist parents in putting an end to the abuse of illegal drugs, this is the one ad which we believe is a cause for concern and should be pulled from the airwaves. The more we consider the complications of a situation such as this, the more we realize that there is a better way to go," said Robert Greene, Vice President of Magna Medical Screening Services.
The alternative would involve utilizing in-home drug testing services from companies such as Magna Medical in Florida or Nationally with Atlanta based In-Home Drug Testing of America. If a parent is suspicious that his or her child is abusing drugs, the first step is to ask the child if he or she is doing so. If the parent deems that further action is necessary, he or she can call an in-home drug tester, anytime during the day, for the child to submit to a random drug test.
Magna Medical Screening Services is an on-site drug testing service based out of Longwood, Florida, with experienced drug testers situated throughout the state.
