Highly Acclaimed Muslim Comedy Tour" To Stop At Zanies Comedy Club In Chicago For Two Nights In October

First-of-its-kind Muslim Comedy Tour to stop in Chicago as pasrt of a 30-city national tour.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 24, 2004 -- Allah Made Me Funny -- The Official Muslim Comedy Tour," which is currently on a 30-city tour throughout the U.S., will be make a highly anticipated two-night stop at Zanies Comedy Club in October, announced Preacher Moss, famed comedy writer, executive producer and the tours headline comic.

Chicago is a vibrant, multi-cultural melting pot of people from all ethnic backgrounds. Our performing for two nights at Zanies is in direct response to the tremendously positive advanced-interest by the local Muslim community," said Moss.

Since 9/11, the cultural gap between Muslims and non-Muslims has widened dramatically. Our goal with the tour is to empower our audiences (of all ethnic backgrounds) through delivering messages about the Muslim culture and the differences and similarities that we all share as humans. Our hope is to bridge that gap," said Azhar Usman, a Chicago native and headliner for the Chicago shows.

The tour, which began in Washington D.C, continues to receive acclaimed media recognition from such print and broadcast outlets including BBC, CBC, UPI, MSNBC and ABC Nightlines Ted Koppel.

To date, the tour has performed for sell-out audiences in (Toronto, Washington D.C., and Raleigh, NC) and it is anticipated that the Chicago shows will follow suit.

Comedy is the perfect tool to disarm people and invite them to think outside of their fixed cultural perceptions. Muslims are not traditionally associated with humour; and through our comedy, we are able to satirize our culture while generating a better understanding of who we are as a community," said Usman.

Usman, who was born and raised in Chicago, has been performing socially conscious stand-up comedy since 2001. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, Usman decided to forgo his law career and begin a career as a professional comedian and lecturer.

Sharing the Allah Made Me Funny" stage with Usman will be the tours founder and executive producer, Preacher Moss, whose impressive resume includes comedy writing for actor/comedian George Lopez, Saturday Night Lives Darryl Hammond and Damon Wayans.

Also appearing with Moss and Usman will be Azeem, a nationally recognized stand-up comic, activist and founder of the non-profit organization, Azeems Kids Foundation, a South Carolina-based charity dedicated to helping children who are in foster and juvenile care.

The tour will visit Zanies Comedy Club, located at 1548 N. Wells Street in Chicago on October 4 and October 5.

The trio will perform two shows daily with performances at 7:00 pm and 9:15 pm. Tickets are priced at $25 and can be reserved by calling Zanies Comedy Club at (312) 337-402.
