JDL Technologies Introduces Suite of Internet Security Solutions to Florida School Districts At the FAEDS 2008 Annual Conference, JDL Technologies, Inc. teamed up with Fidelis Security Systems, Inc. to present an informative seminar on "Preventing Data Leakage in Educational Institutions." Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) November 14, 2008 -- JDL Technologies, Inc., leading provider of IT solutions in South Florida, showcased their suite of best in class security solutions which provide protection from the desktop to the data center to Florida school districts attending the Florida Association of Educational Data Systems (FAEDS) 2008 Annual Conference. The conference was held from September 28th to October 1, 2008 at the Caribe Royale Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. This year the theme of the FAEDS conference was "IT in 2008: Finding a Path to Cost Savings & Efficiency." IT planners, decision makers, and administrators gathered at this unique event to share knowledge and exchange ideas on information technologies that would better assist their school districts. During the event, JDL Technologies demonstrated their ability to provide data leakage prevention for sensitive student information.
In partnership with Fidelis Security Systems, Inc., JDL Technologies sponsored an educational seminar on "Preventing Data Leakage in Education Institutions." David Etue, CIPP and VP of Product Management of Fidelis Security Systems, presented the eye-opening seminar. Mr. Etue provided case studies on how students could use classroom or library computers to plan, create and send threatening content using social networking, instant messaging and/or webmail applications. He demonstrated how the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System® (Fidelis XPS™) can detect the warning signs of these activities and notify security. The suite of internet security solutions can also detect when private student information is being leaked to the outside world. Mr. Etue showed how the Fidelis XPS prevented a faculty member from selling private student information to a sports equipment marketer. Districts can use these solutions to not only identify potential threats, but also prevent data leakage across all ports via correspondence monitoring and internet searching trend analysis. In addition JDL also demonstrated IPS and Web Gateway solutions from IBM and Blue Coat.
"School Districts across the nation are recognizing the need to invest in internet security solutions to shore up their defenses against the leakage of sensitive student information," states Paul Del Prete, VP of Technical Services for JDL Technologies, "Florida School Districts can use these next generation data leakage prevention solutions to not only alert staff to potential threats, but also actively prevent data leakage across all ports."
JDL Technologies and Fidelis Security Systems offered a free two week trial of the Fidelis XPS sensor to Florida school districts. At the end of the deployment, the school district will be presented with a comprehensive Data Protection Assessment Report based on actual data captured from the network. The report generated by the internet security system will help the school district to better understand the risks they are facing.
