Severna Park, MD. (PRWEB) September 24, 2004 --Beer Radio Announces Special Guest; International Hashing Authority, Jay Hopkins
Prior to his in-studio guest host appearance, nationally syndicated Beer Radio will be interviewing an authority on hashing and the Hash House Harriers, Jay Hopkins on Saturday, September 25, 2004.
Hashing is an exhilaratingly fun and non-competitive sport combining running, orienteering, and partying. Bands of harriers" and harriettes" chase hares" on three-to-five-mile-long trails marked with blobs of flour. The trail leads through town, country, jungle, and desert, all in search of exercise, camaraderie, and ultimately beer.
The Hash House Harriers (Hashing) was founded about 1938 as a way to combine fitness and socialization through beer drinking. Hashing plays on the old English game of the hare and hounds." Founded by British colonial administrators, "G" Gispert, "Horse" Thompson, and "Torch" Bennett in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, hashing has endured as a loosely-knit organization and now involves more than 1.5 million members around the world.
Jay Hopkins, renowned international hashing authority and editor of the worlds premiere hashing Web site, www.Half-Mind.com stated, Im looking forward to introducing the beer-drinking public to hashing through Beer Radio. If you have half a mind to hash, thats all it takes." Added Hopkins, Im equally excited to introduce members of the Hash House Harriers to the U.S. Beer Drinking Team. This may be as significant an introduction as beer to the keg"
Dennis Buettner, co-host of Beer Radio said, Were excited to have Jay as a special guest on Beer Radio. Weve always appreciated Hashings combination of fitness and beer. We always promote beer as part of a healthy lifestyle and so do the Hash House Harriers."
