Fashion Doll Designer Goes to the Dogs When an award-winning fashion doll designer found herself out of a job in a faltering industry, things looked grim. But an unexpected turn leads her to a new 'leash on life as she launches an upscale dog accessories company called Pawsitively Posh that seems to be barking up all the right trees. Exton, PA (PRWEB) September 25, 2004 -- Call it a twist of fate, a coincidence, or just plain serendipity. Whatever you call it, your pet will call it heaven.
When award-winning fashion doll designer Joyce Reavey found herself out of a job in an industry that appeared to be faltering, she had no idea what she would do next. Then one day, she had an epiphany. I was sitting at home with my 10-year old son, who was looking through a dog magazine, when he suggested we get a Chihuahua. He handed me the magazine and when I saw the picture of the adorable pups, a light bulb literally went off in my head. That day my son got a new best friend, and I got a great business idea. Four months later, I launched Pawsitively Posh."
Using her vast experience designing upscale, high-quality jewelry and fashion doll costumes, Joyce set out to create a line of upscale pet accessories that were unexpected in the industry and beautifully designed using only the finest fabrics and highest quality craftsmanship. Accessories meant to pamper, indulge, and baby the family pet.
There are so many pet accessories currently being introduced into the market, but how many can boast they were inspired by Faberge, or feature hand-stitched appliqués, satin-linings, and fashion forward designs?" In fact, her Fab Imperial Bed, inspired by a Faberge egg and limited to only 350 pieces, is well on its way to selling out.
If these items sound like something you might find in an upscale catalog or museum, youre not too far off the mark. Joyce credits influences of such timeless designers as Faberge, Edith Head, Erte, and Dior for her inspiration in creating these one-of-a-kind products. My thinking was to bring elegant accessories to an entirely new market."
She seems to have found a niche in this ever growing industry, which, according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, has doubled in sales over the past ten years to over $32.4B. Her current line features a unique contemporary look, with a touch of classic elegance. Joyces fresh perspective seems to be putting a new spin on luxury pet items.
Best selling items from the original line include an adorable Puppy Nursery Set and a luxurious furry bed in the shape of a Slipper, complete with a Newspaper crinkle toy -- a bed any fashionable pet is sure to love.
Pawsitively Posh designs will be featured at the upcoming H. H. Backer 38th Annual Christmas Pet Show in Chicago, October 8-10, and Joyce is as excited as ever. People smile when they see my products -- and use words like fun, unique, and exquisite. I couldnt be happier, except of course, when Im spoiling our loveable Chihuahua, Miles."
