Advanced DNA and Clinical Laboratory Testing for Physicians Now Available From a Single Source.

Genelex Corporation, a DNA testing facility, and STERLING Reference Laboratories, a clinical testing organization, announced today that they will jointly provide pharmacogenetic and other advanced genetic tests

Seattle and Tacoma, WA (PRWEB) October 1, 2004

Genelex Corporation, a DNA testing facility, and STERLING Reference Laboratories, a clinical testing organization, announced today that they will jointly provide pharmacogenetic and other advanced genetic tests, in addition to their menu of clinical diagnostic and toxicology tests.

Prior to this partnership physicians would order these tests from different organizations, creating a barrier to adoption of DNA testing. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, 106,000 people die annually from adverse drug reactions, a number that could be greatly reduced by the inclusion of pharmacogenetic testing in medical practice.

“Medicine is still being prescribed in a one-size fits all manner, even though more than half of the population has known genetic variations that affect their ability to process drugs. The need for increased access to pharmacogenetic testing is clear,” said Genelex Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Rohit Joshi “This new marketing and distribution relationship with Sterling will allow us to reach significantly more medical practioners. Doctors need pharmacogenetics testing to develop appropriate pharmaceutical regimens for their patients, thus increasing the efficacy and safety of the prescription, over the counter and herbal medicines for their patients.”

“We are pleased to offer Genelex’s pharmacogenetic testing as part of our broadly available menu of service offerings for physicians,” said Evans Calas, President and General Manager, of STERLING Reference Laboratories “Many of the physicians we work with have been asking for this valuable test to help improve patient care. This partnership with Genelex will increase access to the most advanced pharmacogenetic technology available.”

Both laboratories are established, fully accredited and licensed medical test sites. The companies will be jointly exhibiting at the Washington State Medical Association Annual Meeting in Spokane October 1 – 3, 2004. Howard Coleman, founder of Genelex Corp., is an invited speaker at the meeting on the topic of DNA Testing in Primary Care. His talk is at 3PM October 2, 2004.

Genelex Corporation, started in 1987 is a provider of comprehensive genetic testing services to medical professionals and the general public.

STERLING Reference Laboratories provides a full range of clinical and toxicology laboratory testing services tailored to the needs of individual physicians.
