Bangkok Hospital Could Save Americans $343m a Year With Low Cost Heart Attack Test

Bangkok Hospital is now offering a special package for exercise stress testing, a screening test for heart attack risk, at around 20% of the cost in the US.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWeb) November 20, 2008-- Bangkok Hospital (www.bangkokhospital.com) has announced a new cut price package for exercise stress testing, a screening test for heart attacks that millions of people undergo each year.

The package is available for 3,800 TB, which equates to around US$110 at current exchange rates. The package includes ECG monitoring, making it the highest available grade of exercise stress testing. It is available from today until December 31, 2008.

Dr. Wiwun Tungsubutra is a cardiac specialist at Bangkok Hospital with 18 years experience in medicine, both in Thailand and Ohio, USA. She feels that she "cannot stress enough" the importance of early diagnosis in heart conditions. "If you can diagnose a heart condition before an immediate problem arises - like a heart attack - treatment can be mostly natural and work well with the body. It is when surgery and hospital time becomes necessary that the cost to the patient, and the impact on their long term health, really starts to mushroom."

Exercise stress testing is undergone by over a million patients every year in the US, with 700,000 of these eligible for Medicare rebates for the test. At current rates, the Bangkok Hospital package has the potential to give back over $340 million dollars to the American people.

Chris Sharasuvana, the hospital's E-Marketing manager, has asked customers to be wary of inclusions when they compare the prices of exercise stress testing in different countries. "Our exercise stress tests include echocardiography, or ECG. You will find some ESTs available in the US for as little as US$98, however for a test equivalent to ours in diagnostic capability, accuracy of results and comprehensiveness of information, you can expect to pay around $600 in the US".
