Imprintink.com Owner Asked to Tell Her Story at Senatorial Candidates Press Conference Recommended to speak at local community college: imprintink.coms owner describes her successful journey as a non-traditional student and small business owner. Caledonia, IL (PRWEB) October 4, 2004 - Ilona Meagher, owner of the Rockford, IL-area new media design and development business, imprintink.com, was recently asked by a Rock Valley College student club to speak at a press conference held by Barack Obama, Illinois Senatorial Candidate, and National Democratic Convention keynote speaker. Held at the community college campus on September 15th, the press conference drew a standing-room-only crowd of over 250. The event included news coverage by local and Chicago-based media outlets.
Mr. Obama spoke in support of increasing Pell Grant funds for students. His focus this day was on those who are in career transition due to the current job losses in America the past few years. Mrs. Meagher was asked to share her journey as a non-traditional student, following her transformation from a 15 year flight attendant career with American Airlines into a small business entrepreneur, recently opening the doors to her firm, imprintink.com.
Ilona Meagher was introduced by Mr. Obama to tell of her recent graduation from Rock Valley College with a 4.0 Highest Honors English degree. Although she herself did not receive Pell Grant funds (incorrectly reported by local media), she explained to the audience her desire to continue her education and how much federal grant programs help students to realize their dreams. I was employed at RVC as a tutor for some time, my paycheck for that work partially paid for with Perkins Grant federal funds," said Ms. Meagher, And Im planning on continuing my education. I strongly support the desire of Mr. Obama to increase the Pell Grant funds available to students. I also support expanding the program so that everyone who wants to work towards their educational goals is held back only by the energy and desire they themselves have to make their dreams come true."
Ms. Meagher was honored to have had the opportunity to speak on stage with Mr. Obama. As New Media Project Manager and owner of imprintink.com, Ms. Meagher respects the pursuit of relationships of quality, professionalism, and appreciates the recognition and opportunity given her by the community. Following the event, Ms. Meagher was interviewed by both the Chicago Tribune and local television station WREX (transcript of their aired report http://www.wrex.com/index_v1.asp?IDQ=1457&Step=2).
