Frail Kirk Douglas Opens Theatre-Faces Jury Trial

Kirk Douglas opens theatre- now faces jury trial in West LA as a result of traffic accident

(PRWEB) October 5, 2004 -- Frail 87 year old stroke victim Kirk Douglas opened a theater named for him Sept 29th in Culver City.

Now Kirk faces a jury trial in West LA in January 05 as a result of nearly hitting a pedestrian as he hit the pedestrians parked car at 30 MPH. The auto accident happened on the street Kirk Douglas lives on ..on the way to his morning workout.

The pedestrian John Robert alleges back and sports hernia injuries from the force of the collision. Roberts groin hernia required surgery.

Many people were surprised that Kirk with his numerous recent medical problems would be driving a 12 cylinder high speed BMW coupe.

Despite press reports to the contrary Kirk Douglass people have not offered one dime to the alleged victim. Matter of fact Kirks insurance company even sent a repair bill of approx. $3,000 for Kirks BMW to the owner of the legally parked STS Seville.

In his book My Stroke of Luck" Kirk Douglas states he does facial exercises while driving since the stroke. To quote Kirk, "If you try them , be warned : You must be careful to concentrate at the wheel."

In an earie forerunner of the recent accident People Weekly magazine decribed Kirk's Douglas driving in an article in 1988 -Quote " Buckle up. Grab the dashboard. There's a 71 year old man at the wheel. Javelin jaw slammed foreword, shark lips yanked back at the corners, Kirk Douglas is gunning his BMW through the mansioned serenity of Beverly Hills in a stuttering succession of jerks, jolts, lurches, swerves and exuberant vavaroooms. No, he isn't drunk. He's on the way to his morning workout and doing just what comes naturally: spilling energy, killing knats with sledgehammers, living in the present intense."
