(PRWEB) October 11, 2004 -- The city of Oakland celebrates the grand opening of the much anticipated nightclub @17th, located at 510 Seventeenth Street, off Telegraph Avenue. @17th, an upscale lounge bar and nightclub, is set to unveil with a two-day kickoff, October 15th and 16th.

Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown and other elected and city officials, along with business and community leaders have been invited to join the ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremonies of @17th on Friday, October 15th from 5pm-8pm. Special guest pianist Bill Bell, a.k.a. The Jazz Professor," will perform live music for the celebration.

The @17th signature cocktail menu will be debuted along with hors d'oeuvres provided by 500 Jackson Street Restaurant of San Francisco.

Originally built for a former roaring 1920s cabaret near the corner of 17th Street and Telegraph Avenue, the 8,000-square foot historic building has been reconfigured in a way that captures the lavish style of that bygone era while adding a 21st century touch.

Complemented by two of Oaklands finest theatres, @17th will serve as an anchor for Oaklands new entertainment revitalization area also known as Uptown Oakland.

With two VIP lounges, a showpiece martini bar, a cigar parlor with a custom humidor and private lockers, spacious dance floor, semi-private cozy booths, wall-to-wall vibrant colored designed imported furniture, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, @17th will provide visitors an experience they wont forget.

Billed as a perfect venue for after-work cocktails, the members only club will enable patrons to unwind, network and relax in private with friends, listen to the best of live jazz, or just dance late-night to high-energy music mixed by the best DJs in the industry.

Inspired by the lack of entertainment options for local residents and out-of-town visitors, the project has been under construction for two years. Project builders and managing partners enlisted local expertise of architects YHLA & Associates; Alarcon Bohm Construction, design firm GraphicVisions; and Marcia Stuermer of Fossil Faux to help bring their vision to fruition.
