Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 16, 2004 -- Art distributor Ellington Kambas gallery showing, Essence of Zimbabwe, will take place on October 22nd in Chicagos renowned West Loop Gallery District. Zimbabwean art has been shown in museums and galleries all over the world, but has been largely absent in the United States.
Zimbabwean art reflects the beauty and uniqueness of Africas heritage. Most of the artwork on display at the Essence of Zimbabwe exhibit has taken its inspiration from the two Zimbabwe tribes, Shona and Ndebele, which are rich in artistic heritage. These two tribes have developed their own shapes, styles and techniques that reflect their own culture.
Mr. Kamba travels to Africa monthly in order to obtain these original pieces of artwork. Some of the art that will be on display at the October 22nd show will include handmade canvas paintings, woodcarvings and hand-woven laced clothing.
The Essence of Zimbabwe exhibit will be held on Friday, October 22nd in the West Loop Gallery District at 118 N. Peoria St. on the 4th floor. Doors will open to the public at 6pm and close at midnight, with hor doeuvres being served at 7pm. A silent auction will also be held on some of the Zimbabwe artwork.
