Introducing The Innova® 3110 CanOBD2 Code Reader Tool for Check Engine Diagnosis

From The Maker of the Best Selling OBD2 Code Reader Ever ... See It At AAPEX 2004 Booth #3461

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (PRWEB) October 25, 2004 -- Introducing the next generation of OBD code readers from Equus Products, Inc. (AAPEX 2004 Sands Booth #3461). The new Innova® 3110 CanOBD2TM Code Reader is the most powerful, easy-to-use and affordable tool for diagnosing Check Engine" light warnings on any 1996 and newer car, light truck or SUV -- foreign and domestic. It includes all of the functions that helped make Innovas first-generation OBD2 code reader popular, plus value-added features such as Controller Area Network (CAN) coverage, tri-lingual user interface and on-screen code definitions, upgradeable OBD-PC LinkTM software, and more.

Even before the first 3110 unit rolled out of production, we had buyers ready to place orders for this exciting new product," said Scott Gompper, Equus Products sales manager. With more than 130,000 units sold in two short years, our customers have experienced tremendous success with our first generation Innova® 3100 OBD II Code Reader. This new tool is state of the art, will significantly add to our already successful OBD program, and allow us expansion into new markets."

Before the 3100 was introduced, code readers had traditionally been difficult to navigate and required complex manual-driven setup. The Innova product design team developed a patented (U.S. Patent #6,687,584) display to show all necessary data on one screen, eliminate the need for scrolling and make testing a breeze. The plug and play" display that has made the first-generation OBD2 code reader so popular has been included on the new 3110 CanOBD2 unit.

The Innova® 3110 CanOBD2TM Code Reader is designed to appeal to a broad audience, including professional automotive technicians, do-it-yourselfers and consumers. Key features and functions include:

· C.A.N. (Complete Controller Area Network) protocol coverage. CAN, which is used on a handful of makes and models today, will be mandatory on all vehicles manufactured for use in the U.S. beginning in 2008. It is the fastest way yet for computerized vehicles to speak with their high tech systems.

· Bilingual user interface with on-screen code definitions and easy-to-read instructions in English, French and Spanish.

· Large (60 x 40mm), patented display features diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their definitions, freeze frame and user interface prompts.

· Color-coded LEDs quickly validate the vehicles computer engine controls (Green = OK, Yellow = Possible Problem / Not ready for an emissions test, Red = Code present / requires service).

· Quick and easy plug and play" user interface goes from connecting to the vehicle to getting all the data you need in 15 seconds or less.

· On-screen I/M Readiness icons indicate which monitors are supported by the vehicle in test, and if the associated monitor has run its diagnostic testing. This is ideal for emissions testing because 33 states and D.C. have mandatory I/M programs that use OBD2 to pass" or fail" smog tests.

· Freeze frame display for in-depth analysis.

· Displays generic and manufacturer specific DTCs to help identify a particular problem. Also shows which code commanded the MIL on and the total number of codes on one screen.

· ERASE function turns off CHECK ENGINE warning lamp, clears codes and resets monitors.

· Automatic re-link every 15 seconds allows hands-free operation while performing drive cycles -- great to help verify repairs.

The 3110 is also upgradeable using optional PC software, which is expected to be available in second quarter 2005 via www.CanOBD2.com. The value-added OBD-PC LinkTM feature lets you download and print trouble codes, monitor status, freeze frame data, and generate detailed reports that can be customized for individual shops, technicians, DIY consumers and vehicles.

This tool was designed by ASE certified technicians to include all of the features and functions needed to speed up the diagnosis and repair process, at a fraction of the cost of similar tools," said Keith Andreasen, Innovas director of technical services. Pros already tell us that our first generation code reader helps them repair as many as two more vehicles per day, so we are excited about what this new tool and PC-Link will help them accomplish."

The suggested retail price of the Innova® 3110 CanOBD2 Code Reader is $260. It is scheduled to ship first quarter 2005. For more information, pricing and availability, contact sales at: (714) 433-0121 or email: sales@iEquus.com.
