League of Women Voters & Tammy Says... Partner on Voter Campaign Kay Maxwell, President of League of Women Voters on the Show 5 Things You Need To Know When You Go To The Polls On Election Day. Provided by Kay Maxwell, President, League of Women Voters for the Tammy Says... Show Washington DC (PRWEB) October 22, 2004 --- Kay Maxwell, President of the League of Women Voters, has provided a 5 minute infomercial on the Tammy Says... show about the voter education and public awareness campaign. This campaign familiarizes voters with new election procedures and ways they can take action to ensure their votes are counted. The League is distributing more than half a million 5 Things voter cards" through its 900 state and local Leagues, more than 2,000 public libraries and numerous election reform partner organizations.
I am delighted that Kay was able to take time from her busy schedule with just over 2 weeks to go before the Election and talk about this very important issue," says Tammy. The Tammy Says... show is not a lobbying firm nor does it advocate one nominee over another, its sole purpose is to educate, inform and empower the small business owner about issues that could impact the growth of their business and the upcoming election could have a major impact on business owners.
Information that needs to get out is that election rules and procedures vary by state and even county. In addition, while some districts will have new voting machines, a majority of this falls voters will use the same machines they did in the 2000 election. Note that there is a new federal identification requirement for first-time voters who register by mail, but some states have broadened this to apply to all voters AND all states must provide provisional ballots for voters who find themselves not on the list of registered voters. Voters need to ask how these new rules are being applied in their cities and states, so they can prepare themselves, and protect their votes," said Kay Maxwell.
